Family lives in: Chelmsford, Essex

Danny has been a comedy writer and performer for many years, back to when he was a scriptwriter on Spitting Image. He has written columns for the Guardian Guide and the Daily Telegraph. In 1994, his one man show, Caught In The Net, played to full houses at the Arts Theatre in London's West End. His previous TV appearances include slots on BBC 2's The Spin, and the 1996 one-off Guerilla TV - a look at camcorder activism in the UK.

For the past few years, Danny has been investigating the international world of the Internet, writing on geek culture from across the world: from the desert festivals of California's Burning Man, to hacking conferences in Amsterdam, new artists in New York, and the teenage coders of Helsinki. From his laptop, he also edits the scurrilous Internet newsletter, Need To Know , which has documented these travels in real and cyberspace. It's been described as the "Private Eye of the Net", and recently received a special commendation by the judges of the 1998 Interactive BAFTA awards - the first time this award has ever been given. Thanks to the Net, Danny has pals and readers in every corner of the world - from India, China, and Europe to the US. NTK's latest rave review came from Russia, where one critic decided that Danny "must be very famous in his country if one is to believe what is written on their Web pages".

Well, not quite...

"People thinks the Net will turn the world into couch potatoes", Danny says, "but it really it lets you work from anywhere. Everyone should be able to run away to any corner of the globe - and everyone can become an instant expert on even the most exotic city. With a little bit of help from their friends, of course..."
